The battery is suitable for 097708, 097707, and 097733 Superheat Controller applications. The unit is used to automatically close the EX control valves in the event of power lost. It is designed to last several years with 1-25°C operating conditions and up to 2 years with 35°C or greater ambient temperatures.
What is the lifespan of this battery? I have one that came with my new industrial chiller last year and it states its rechargable but it has only lasted 1 year before it failed and through an error on the chiller.

According to Emerson, the 097693 Replacement Battery for EC3 Superheat Controllers should have several years of operation under "normal" (1-25°C) operating conditions.
Under an ambient temperature of 35°C or greater, this battery has a maximum life expectancy of 2 years.

Please see the Emerson EC3-X32 Superheat Controller technical data sheet under the "Technical Data" Tab on this web page. The battery is an integral rechargeable battery to close EX control valves in case of power loss. It takes approximately 2 hours to charge the battery from fully empty. Unfortunately, we are unable to determine if this is a lithium battery.
