What is MERV 8 Rating?
The Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) is a rating standard of the overall effectiveness of air filters. The higher the rating, the finer the filtration, meaning the fewer dust particles or other airborne contaminants can pass through the filter. MERV 8 filters out 70-85% of all particulate between 3.0 and 10.0 microns. The typical use for MERV8 filters is to trap mold spores, hair spray, fabric protector, and cement dust as well as greater particulate such as pollen, dust mites, spray paint, and carpet fibers absorbed by smaller MERV filter products.
