The AP10872QL-3 is a Copper Heater Element with a 1" Screw-In. A 240V heater element that delivers 6000W of heat energy into the water.
Heating elements for water heaters come in a variety of configurations and materials. The Rheem AP10872QL-3 converts electricity into heat which the element then conducts into the water heater. These elements need to be replaced periodically as a build-up from naturally occurring elements in your water system will slowly corrode the contacts and the element. Heating elements in water heaters are usually easy to replace.
Note: When replacing the heater element, the SP6708 gasket should be replaced as well.
