The Robertshaw 780-787 (HS780-34NR-306A) is a Gas Ignition Control Module used for heating systems.

The control module has an input voltage of 120/24VAC, 60Hz frequency, and 120/24VAC maximum load current.

The Robertshaw® 780 Series Hot Surface Controls are designed for use on gas fired systems. The system acts on a demand for heat by a switch or thermostat to supply power to the ignition control. On non pre-purge models, the ignitor will be energized immediately and remain on for either of two optional selected ignitor heat-up times: approximately 17 or 34 seconds. For models with the prepurge option, there is a time delay equal to the heat-up time selected before the ignitor is energized. At the end of the ignitor heat-up time, the gas valve is opened supplying gas to the main burner. After several seconds, the ignitor is turned off and the sensor is energized. As long as flame is sensed, the system continues to operate.

Q:
It says it has an input of 24 V. So I could put my 24 V wires on the L1 and L2 terminals for the input and use a 24 V hot surface igniter ?

Thanks for the question.

While the listing mentions 24V, our product data indicates the Robertshaw 780-787 ignition module is intended to be powered by line voltage at the L1 and L2 terminals, and the 24V reference is typically related to the control or gas valve circuit, not the main power input.

Because ignition controls are safety critical, we do not recommend placing 24V supply wires on L1 and L2 or attempting to convert this control to run a 24V hot surface igniter.

If the wiring is not correct for the specific furnace design, it can create a dangerous condition, including ignition failure, equipment damage, fire risk, or a gas related hazard.

We strongly recommend confirming the exact wiring and correct control and igniter type with a licensed HVAC technician in your area who is familiar with local codes and safety standards, or by referencing the furnace’s official wiring diagram.
