Taco Air Scoop 3"

The Taco 436-5 Air Scoop is a 3" unit designed to slow water velocity enough to allow the separation of air from the water. The air scoop integrates air elimination with the connection of either a plain steel or diaphragm expansion tank in an economicall efficient process . The Taco Air Scoop® is specially crafted for noiseless, air-free hydronic heating or cooling by efficiently the air from the water in your system.
How does this work? With air being lighter than water, it moves along the upper section of a horizontal pipe in a low velocity hydronic system. As the air and water enter, the Air Scoop decreases their velocity, permitting the air bubbles to be scooped up and directed to the top of the chamber. When air reaches the top of the scoop it is either immediately vented through a Hy-Vent® or it moved into a conventional plain steel expansion tank if applicable. If the air completely fill the plain steel tank and back down into the Air Scoop any excess is removed by the Hy-Vent without disturbing the operation of the system.
