Q:
The HVAC technician said the outdoor sensor is bad so my Heat Pump could not communicate with my furnace to switch between themselves. Can I replace the outdoor sensor BAYSEN01ATEMPA as a DIY project myself? The HVAC company gave me a invoice with more than $300 for the service call and diagnosis. They will charge another $250 to do the installation.

We always suggest that parts should be installed by licensed technicians.  Some installations are simple DIY projects, but others are more sophisticated and require the expertise of a qualified technician with experience.  The nature of HVAC equipment requires that installations be done correctly, and as each individual application is different, we are not able to determine the particulars relating to your installation.  We often sell components to clients that then have installed by a licensed technician.  We suggest, having another HVAC company provide you with a quotation, with you supplying the part.
